On our recent vacation to Phoenix, Arizona we made sure that we spent an afternoon at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix. I LOVE children’s museums. When our older kids were younger I started looking for a children’s museum on every trip. They are such a great place for kids to have some time to let loose and play. Kids don’t have to be quiet or super well-behaved. They get to play to their hearts content, discover and explore new things.
The Children’s Museum of Phoenix didn’t disappoint! Due to Covid, they were requiring tickets purchased in advance for a specific time and were limiting the number of people. All kids over 3 are required to wear masks at all times. And, all of their activities were outside. It wasn’t until we went to the restrooms when we were leaving that I saw the super awesome-looking climbing structure inside. I am really hoping that the inside might be open for our next trip this summer. But anyway, back to this experience.
As I said, all the activities were outside. Some of the activities were permanent fixtures that have always been available outside such as the large tubes, watering garden, small sandpit, and bike track.
I was really impressed with all the activities they brought outside to keep kids’ minds and creativity engaged. I believe that the activities change periodically but we got to experience
wonderful piles of sand complete with buckets and shovels,
an obstacle course with very interesting construction items,
an old fire truck and mail truck,
a maker area,
a painting area with rocks and a car.
But, our kids’ absolute favorite activity was the bubble machine. I think that they spent at least an hour jumping, diving, and dancing in and out of bubbles. They were soaked but smiling!
Our kids were throughly entertained for hours and were sad when we had to leave. Here are a few pictures from our afternoon.
So if you have an afternoon free while you are in Phoenix, AZ I would highly recommend spending some time at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix. It could be the highlight of your trip.
